Science and Religion: The Myth of Conflict

Science and Religion: The Myth of Conflict
Thursday, October 24, 2019
7:00PM
Winants Auditorium, Graves Hall
Dr. Stephen Barr

Science and religion are sometimes understood as being in conflict - but are they? Please join us as we host Prof. Stephen Barr for a discussion of this supposed “conflict”. His argument is that the conflict has really been between a philosophy called “scientific materialism” and religion. Prof. Barr will explain that it is largely based on certain misconceptions about Christian belief, an outdated view of scientific history, and a skewed interpretation of what science has actually discovered about the world.
